Morgan Evans
Chugg Entertainment, Frontier Touring and Potts Entertainment are excited to announce beloved Nashville-based, Aussie singer-songwriter, Morgan Evans will bring his Life Upside Down Tour to New Zealand this September.
The Nashville-via-Newcastle chart topper last headlined shows around the country in 2019 as part of his world tour, hitting the road off the back of a hugely successful second studio album THINGS THAT WE DRINK TO. The album earnt Evans a spot on Billboard’s Country Artists to Watch list that year, with lead single ‘Day Drunk’ achieving 4x Platinum status in Australia and becoming a staple at commercial radio. Following his breakout in 2018, Evans continued to soar, achieving his first No.1 on the US Country Chart with hit track ‘Kiss Somebody’ which also went 3x Platinum in Australia and topped the Australian Country Airplay Chart for 25 weeks.
Morgan will be joined on his New Zealand show by 2x Golden Guitar winner, James Johnston. A local boy from Wingham, NSW, James has had a mammoth 2 years performing on some of country music's biggest stages at CMC Rocks QLD and Tamworth Country Music Festival, as well as topping the CountryTown Hot 50 airplay chart. With a year of recognition for the rising star, including Rolling Stone Australia's Best New Talent; as well as a newly released single, 'We Grew Up On' , James Johnston is gearing up to hit the stage alongside Morgan for some incredible live shows.
With support back home and around the world, Evans continues to perform to sold out venues globally, with an extensive touring history that has seen him join the likes of Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, Dan + Shay and more on their world tours. His dynamic live performance has been called “electric” by Off The Record and celebrated as “triumphant... with the perfect amount of energy and fun” by Entertainment Focus.
His latest EP, Life Upside Down (out now via Warner Music) is a project that hits home for Morgan, and is a poetic timeline of the last year. The EP received rave reviews from fans and critics, including deeply raw, viral single ‘Over For You’ connecting so strongly with fans around the world (Music & Tour News), which ultimately earnt him a spot on the line-up at this year’s C2C festival in London.
“Evans’ honest lyrics and authentic performance throughout the EP take us on a journey of unexpected heartbreak, self-rediscovery, new beginnings and a renewed gratitude for the present moment” – Anti Music
